Hi Folks,

A few milestones to celebrate this week:

- Firstly wchaplin becomes our 18th member with 1,000,000 credits ... very well done and also for being the 3rd member to reach the 1,000,000 credit mark on WCG.
- Secondly team South Africa passes 10,000,000 credits on WCG and 5,000,000 credits on Aqua on Tuesday 13th July.

As a team we now have 3 x 10 million projects (ranked 100), 7 x 5 million projects (ranked 66) and 13 x 1 million projects (ranked 76). For further team stats please check out http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=teambycpid&team=South+Africa

Hi Folks,

This week congratulations goes to Reapur who passed 1 million credits on Wednesday 21st July ... very well done on becoming our 19th 1 million member. Reapur also leads the efforts in pushing Team South Africa into the top 100 teams for the Docking@Home project, keep the workunits flowing.

Cheers,
Neil.

Hi there,

On Tuesday 17th August Copycat-Digital (Pongo) reached 40 million credits which is a brilliant achievement. He is far and away the major contributor to Team South Africa. Keep up the fantastic effort and those Milkyway credits rolling.

Cheers,
Neil.

Well done, Pongo!

By the way, Neil, you have been quite conscientious about tracking the milestones. Before it goes unnoticed, I want to extend early congratulations to you for reaching 10 million. I expect this will happen within the next week or so.

Keep on Crunching.

Hi Folks,

Many thanks Warped for the good wishes ... without the GTX275 I bought last year this would not have been possible at all, but this is all relative to what hardware folks have access to or can afford and therefore I am in constant admiration of the folks who faithfully crunch with one old machine. Well done to them!

I have been slightly tardy the last week or so on the milestone front, so apologies to Luke Narramore who reached 1 million credits last Sunday 29th August ... a fantastic effort and please keep those Aqua credits going, you have almost reached a million credits on that project alone. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations also goes to Jaco Marais who reached 1 million credits on Wednesday 1st November. Jaco has made a stella rise through the ranks and we had all better be watching our backs with those GPU cards burning red  I have a strong affinty to Jaco's approach to BOINC in that he has a large cross-section of projects (33 currently) that he is actively involved with and will be watching his progress with interest. Well done!

I am also watching with interest as some of our more recent members are rising through the ranks and will shortly be putting pressure on some of those on the the top of the team leader board. The team situation is certainly looking a lot more healthly with these welcome contributions. Please feel free to join us here with a few posts of your own.

Take care,
Neil.

Hello there,

It's been a while, so apologies to those who thought I had forgotten.

Firstly, congratulations goes to Matt Feinstein who passed 1 million credits on 16th September 2010. Matt is a partner in crime of mine on both Collatz Conjecture and the ever increasingly frustrating FreeHal@Home project. Matt many thanks for your contribution. Well done and keep it up.

Secondly, very well done to Warped on reaching 4 million credits on 17th September, a fantastic effort. Your efforts on PrimeGrid particularly are amazing ... can you maybe have have a word with the folks from the University of Free State to come over and join us  Also watching with interest as you strive to 1 million credits on WCG. Keep up the great work and I appreaciate our chats here, hope a few more folks join in soon.

Take care,
Neil.

Well done Matt - a stout effort.

Thank you for your wishes, Neil. Unfortunately I do not have a GPU so am reliant on the CPU work to keep crunching. You've certainly made good use of your GPU and look set to challenge for the number 2 spot in Team South Africa.

On PrimeGrid, the University of Free State are amazing and have racked-up a total of over 100m already. You will have noted (at the bottom of the home page) that they are usually far and away the top participant for any given day and, in fact, normally contribute more than the top team as well! I managed to entice them to accept a "friend" invite but they seem somewhat reluctant to join a team.

At WCG they keep coming up with new sub-projects and badge for us to try and achieve. The badge system is entirely dependent on the CPU time so slow machines are not a disadvantage. Also, the up-time on the project is excellent and the causes seem entirely worthy.

Hello,

This week have two members to congratulate for achieving significant milestones.

On Monday 11th October 2010 Jaco Marais passed 2 million credits and is one of the stellar rising crunchers with his second million taking just over a month. Very well done and keep those GPU cards glowing.

On Tuesday 12th October bothagb passed a million overall credits. An interesting fact is that bothagb is a dedicated WCG cruncher and crunch's for no other project and therefore also passed 1 million credits for WCG on the same day and is 4th overall in the WCG team rank. Great dedication and effort, well done and keep it up.

Have a great week-end everyone.

Cheers,
Neil.

Hello,

This week we congratulate AstroBoy on reaching 1 million credits and becoming the 25th Team South Africa member to achieve this feat, very well done. AstroBoy crunches exclusively for Aqua@Home at the moment and has therefore also achieved 1 million credits with this project. All of this within the last month ... some serious horsepower. Keep up the good work and many thanks.

Cheers,
Neil.

Hi Folks,

Apologies for the absence in providing a regular milestone update, but unfortunately work and travel demands have been calling. So hopefully I can try provide a comprehensive monthly update this time round. Apologies in advance if I have left you out, please let me know if I do. So here we go for November starting with some overall milestones:

- Stephen Hoy has become the most recent team member to crack the 1 million credit barrier, mainly due to his efforts on Cosmology@Home. Great work and keep it up.
- Peter has reached 2 million credits during November with his great work on Eistein. Well done.
- Matt Feinstein and Luke Buckland also reached 2 million credits and also both passed 1 million credits on DNETC@HOME. Great job and keep up the good work. DNETC@HOME has certainly become a popular project over the last month for the folks with ATI cards.
- Jaco Marais continued his amazing multi project effort reaching 3 million credits overall and 2 million on Collatz Conjecture.
- AstroBoy continues his meteorical rise passing 3,4 and 5 million in a single month working specifically on Aqua@Home. This amazing effort has seen Aqua rise to the 5th SA project overall ... and climbing. Excellent job.
- Phillip Sprules reached a fantastic 17 million. Great to have you pushing the Collatz project along. Brilliant.
- Copycat-Digital has been a bit quite for a while, but came back with a big bang and some amazing RAC numbers on DNETC@HOME over the last few weeks. Wow, some serious horsepower you have there. Passing an amazing 45 million overall and 5 million on DNETC@Home.

Project wise, well done to Warped who passed 1 million credits on WCG to make that his second 1 million project. Well done on the determined effort and for not waivering like some of us reaching out to the bright new lights.

As a team we have:
5 x 10+ Million Projects (80th Overall)
10 x 5+ Million Projects (55th Overall)
16 x 1+ million Projects (67th Overall)

Definetly punching above our weight, with Climate prediction soon to reach 10 million and DNETC@HOME not far behind with the efforts amazing efforts of everyone involved there. Not much in terms of any standout project making headway towards 1 million.

The team situation seems to continue from strength to stength with some very exciting new members joining and some of the more established member rising to the challange. All this despite a very quite forum here, come on folks jump in and share your views, opions and general banter here. Lastly not forgetting all the other folks who have limited hardware resources, but contribute faithfully day after day. Well done to you all.

Take care from a very cold and snowy Hampshire. I really wish I was back at home on days like today.

Cheers,
Neil.

Thanks for the comprehensive update, Neil.

I note that few members (such as yourself and Luke Buckland) have cottoned-on to the benefit of GPU crunching for PPS Sieve in PrimeGrid. The team score has jumped dramatically in the last few days. Keep up the good work.

Kind Regards from a hot Johannesburg.
