Do we need an Afrikaans forum?

Postby S.A. BOINC » Tue Aug 11, 2009 4:23 pm

Guys,
Do we need an Afrikaans forum?

Personally i can't speak the language, but many people do.

This forum is called "GENERAL MESSAGE CHAT", we could have another forum just for speaking Afrikaans.

Hi John

It can't do any harm. After all the Help Section only has 2 topics and 3 posts.

My home language is English but there are probably a number of members who would be more comfortable conversing in Afrikaans. I'll play around with the forum admin options and see if I can get something going.

Warped,
The help forum serves no function, nobody is using it. If you or someone who can speak the Afrikaans language will write out the forum name and description, i will change the help forum to an Afrikaans forum!

Translate these words into Afrikaans for me;
*************
Forum title; Afrikaans chat
Forum description; Afrikaans discussion area
*******************
The forum will also need at least one message posted to describe what the forum is for so the forum is not empty with no messages. I don't mind posting the first message, but i will also need this translated;
*****************
Message title; Afrikaans discussion area explained
Message content;
This forum is intended for discussion topics using the Afrikaans language. Your welcome to chat about any topic you like.
***************

Thanks Stack! :)
Done, now we have an Afrikaans forum. Just so the forum does not look completely empty Stack, will you go in and post 2 or 3 random new topic messages. Just post anything at all, maybe something about SETI@home or Einstein@home or world community grid, but do it in Afrikaans if you can. Its just to kick start the forum, maybe you could even post some jokes or some general news or something.

If nobody uses the forum after 6 or 8 months, then maybe we can detete it again. But for the moment, i think its the right thing to do to have an Afrikaans forum even if its not being used.

Thanks John

I'm not sure if the Title should be "Afrikaanse klets" with an e at the end of Afrikaans. Also, maybe forum (the same as in English) is more appropriate than klets.

Nevertheless, let's see if the Afrikaans speakers can assist.

OK, that sounds fair enough. I have no idea how to spell the words or what they mean, but....

I changed the forum description;
Area vir Afrikaanse gesprek

To;
Area vir Afrikaans gesprek

And i changed forum title;
Afrikaans klets

To;
Afrikaans klets/Afrikaans forum
