stackoverflow,
Its tricky to get folks to post messages. 9 out of 10 people will only ever read the messages. I check this forum every few days to see if anyone is willing to participate and post some messages.

This is what i suggest;

Take the lead yourself and start posting information about the team. Post anything that you think the team might be interested in. Or just post general chat messages. In time, others will follow.

You could also try to recruit people to join the team. Try recruiting people that use the World Community Grid forum. Try to find other South Africans that might be posting messages on the WCG forums or any other south africa chat forums.

Ideas for posting messages;
Team Statistics
Team Information
South Africa general news
South Africa computing related news
BOINC general information
Individual project information
Funny stuff
General chat
Anything you can think of

S.A. BOINC :D

Yes, I see what you mean as I often feel like one of those myself.

This is not going to be easy. :( Its really difficult deciding what people might be interested in reading/hearing about and what would be offensive or inappropriate... and yes, I am actually talking about things that are science related. :lol:

Well look, we have a few people posting messages here at the moment, that's not too bad! :D

I am open minded about expanding this website with topics relating to any topic you think is missing. You can either post messages under the current headings i have on the front page here, or i can add more forums. Just an example might be that you think we could attract more people if we had an area with the heading "Hard Core Computer Chat" or a specific area for "Climate Change General Discussion". These are examples but you could have areas to chat about anything from horses to toy solders. You get my drift!

But if we create any new area, you would have to be willing to post stuff there. No point creating area's just for the sake of it.

There are a few idea's in my last post.

This is not "My Website", this is "Your Website" and "Our Website" its a place for anyone in South Africa with an interest in computers, BOINC projects and Science.

It's great to see there's been quite a bit of activity on this site. I registered last year and decided that it was probably going to die a slow death, so ignored the site for the best part of a year.

Congratulations on the quality of the the site - all sorts of post options, graphics etc.

Warped,
Thanks for joining in here and participating.

This forum is the best chance that team South Africa on the BOINC projects has. Its important to support the forum by occasionally posting a message or two just to keep it alive.

Warped, as you are one of the original founding members of team South Africa, i have made you a moderator on this forum. Since i started this forum, we have never been attacked by spammers or anything like that so things are quiet. Best advice is just to use common sense and only moderate when its necessary.

This forum and website is only as good as what you make it! - Its the only place on the Internet where South Africans can come for chat and information about the projects. If the will of the people who use this forum is strong enough, this website can grow into something much better than what you see today!

I am only the "care-taker" here, this is your website! - spread the word!

Good to have you with us!
