Things you can do to help team South Africa grow!

This is a list with a few ideas for things you can do that will help team South Africa. They are just idea’s so if you have any idea’s yourself that will help the team to grow, then do get cracking and you could post a message and we can chat about them and develop the idea’s to make them work.

We need all the help we can get to make this website the best place on the internet for South African people to come and get involved in BOINC science projects.

List with a few ideas;
1. Tell your family, friends, work colleagues, collage buddies and anyone you can think of about this website and all the different science projects you can be involved in that help science and humanity. Tell them about the specific projects that you think they would be interested in. http://southafrica.freeforums.org

There is BOINC information and project info posted here; http://southafrica.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=3

2. If you have a website of your own, even personal web spaces like Myspace, Facebook, live Spaces, Yahoo, etc put a team South Africa logo on the website and link it to the team South Africa website.

3. If you don’t have any website or personal web space, then build one and put lots of information on the website about the BOINC projects that you like. But make sure that the main link you are sending people is http://southafrica.freeforums.org
Just copy and paste BOINC info from here; http://southafrica.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=3

4. Search for more places on the net that you can build a personal web spaces and post all the same information again. Lots of stuff about the projects and then a major banner that links back to the South Africa BOINC website. The more personal web spaces you can post the information on, the better. So just keep finding new places and doing the same thing. BOINC info is here; http://southafrica.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=3

Join the team links are here (Just post the link);

5. Register on other internet science forums and join in the chat. Put a small team South Africa signature image in your profile and just chat to people. Tell them about BOINC and computing for science. Be careful not to get banned from the forum for appearing to be there just to advertise another website!

6. Go and chat on the project message boards for the various BOINC projects. Try to find people who are not on any team and send them a private message asking them to join team South Africa. Again, careful not to get yourself banned as team recruiting is shunned upon by forum moderators.

7. Make some nice posters with information about BOINC and the projects and with the internet address of the website to get involved. Then put them up around your local area in community centres, schools, collages, universities, airports and train stations or anywhere you think people might read the poster and visit the website.

8. Make logos, banners and signature images for the team. Make cool logos and images that you can put in your signature and on websites to advertise the team website. Post the images on the forum and we will sticky the message.

10. Contact your local newspaper or radio station and ask them to add a link on their website to this website. Ask newspapers to write an article about your favourite project. Ask radio stations to mention the cool projects and where you can go to get involved!

11. Contact anyone in South Africa involved in science that has a website and ask them to link to this website or get involved.

11. Any ideas you have yourself. Use your imagination. Anything that will get new people involved in any of the BOINC projects or the team website.
